Wear proper PPE (gloves, goggles, protective clothing, steel-toe boots).
Have a compatible hose, suitable pump, receiving tank, spill tray, and pressure gauge ready.
Inspect the flexitank for leaks or bulges before opening container doors.
Position container on level ground, slightly tilted toward the rear doors. Chock wheels.
Open doors carefully – stand to one side, open right door first.
Connect discharge line – remove dust cap, attach hose securely to the flexitank valve. Place other end in receiving tank.
Open valve slowly, then start pump gradually.
Max pressure: 15–20 psi (1–1.4 bar) – exceeding this may rupture the bag.
Monitor for leaks, liner collapse, and steady flow. Adjust tilt to drain residual liquid.
When flow stops, close valve, disconnect hose (use drip tray).
Remove and dispose – cut a small slit to release vapor, roll up the liner, and discard according to local regulations.
Never use compressed air to empty a flexitank – it will burst.
Do not pull on the valve or step on the liner.
For flammable liquids: bond and ground all equipment.
Ensure ventilation when unloading volatile liquids.
| Problem | Quick Fix |
|---|---|
| No flow | Check valve; gently push liner near valve with blunt tool |
| Pump runs dry | Air lock – prime pump; tilt container more |
| Leak at connection | Stop pump, retighten or replace gasket |
| Bulging liner | Stop pump immediately, vent pressure |
Final tip: Slow and steady prevents spills. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
