This successful collaboration highlights Ocean Blue Whale's capability to deliver safe, efficient, and cost-effective logistics for the global omega-3 supply chain.
Chile is one of the world's largest fish oil exporters, with annual exports valued at approximately $419 million in 2024, primarily destined for Norway, Belgium, and China. The client, based in the Valparaíso region, had previously relied on expensive ISO tank containers and cumbersome steel drums for shipping crude fish oil—methods that limited flexibility and increased operational costs.
Since transitioning to Ocean Blue Whale's 24,000-liter flexitanks, the client has achieved significant improvements in logistics efficiency. Each 20-foot container now accommodates up to 24 metric tons of fish oil, maximizing payload while minimizing shipping frequency. The multi-layer food-grade polyethylene liner, reinforced with a woven polypropylene outer layer, provides an airtight barrier that prevents oxidation and preserves the oil's nutritional integrity throughout long-haul voyages.
